I don’t know why comments by Rep. Mike Miller and Max Bucks were caught by Akismet and marked as spam - my apologies. It was not my intention and I don’t know why it happened.
There is a limit on links and language but I saw no issues so - ? Anyway they have been liberated…I guess it’s time to upgrade Wordpress.

Thanks, Carol.
With the good governor raising the budget well over 40% the last 3 sessions, even a 10-15% cut next time leaves the State with a LOT of growth in government and spending.
If revenues are falling below the 2008 level (and possibly even further) maybe we need to roll back the budget to what it was before the ~25% increase in 2007.

Yes the spending growth even in just the 2005 session was outrageous. I ran in 2006 on basically a stop-the-madness platform. My theme was “what happens when the boom goes bust?” but that’s not a winning strategy of course.
What make me mad is when Republicans lobby for some frivolous spending on pet projects…and that’s all I’ll say.

Of course, he’s going to lecture the legislature, and Bozeman, that “it’s time for government to tighten its belt”. But if the belt were kept tight during good times, government wouldn’t have to give the economy a second jolt by drastically cutting in bad times.
“Sustainability” is a good word. We need a government of a sustainable size, made up of sustainable programs, but to do that we have to elect people who will say “no” in the good economies when everybody’s there with their hands out. Then, in a bad economy, we’ve got reserve to say yes in the bad times when it counts.

JeffK,
I agree with you 100%. For some reason, government has to spend everything it collects. To the tax-and-spenders, a surplus only happens because the State under spent, not because the people were over taxed.
Carol - I like that theme. There can be some satisfaction in knowing you were right - but also some frustration.

I did too! For the life of me I don’t know why you ended up in the spam filter, except for the the upgrade issue.
